At-Risk Population in Houston-AppStudio
This app shows evacuation routes and demographic data by census tract for Houston, Texas. The darker blue tracts have a higher percentage of households without a vehicle. This pattern helps answer the question: Where in Houston should we provide evacuation assistance during a hurricane?
Build Environment vs. Natural Environment
Finalized Map Before Post-Classification.
Using multiple methods and tools in ArcGIS and ArcMap, as well as, Landsat data provided by the University of Arizona, a post-classified supervised image was created to detected the land use/land cover change over a 14 year period in Tucson, Arizona and Pima County regions. The data is from June 21, 2002 to June 18, 2016; highlighting the significant increase in the built environment. The pre and post data sets were compared and analyzed to obtain the statistics, and percentages of change.
Finalized Map After Post-Classification
There was a significant increase of the built environment over the past 14 years (Project was done using data from 2002-2016). It is clearly visible in purple, showing dense growth on the mountain ranges, east and north of Tucson –{ Oro Valley, & Marana}, as well as growth near the mining areas south of Tucson
